How we got here

Our story

2022

231 kilometres apart

It all began in 2022. Michael was studying in Port Elizabeth, Kirst was teaching at Yellowwoods School, and between them lay 231 kilometres of road. For those first six months, love meant long drives, weekend reunions, early mornings at horse shows, and cheering each other on through life’s milestones, near or far.

Closer

The road gets shorter

When Michael moved to Grahamstown, the distance shrank, though there was still plenty of travelling involved! Life became a little easier, and we had more time to make memories together.

One roof, one little family

Kirst packed up her life and, with her golden retriever Molly by her side, moved to Grahamstown too. At last we were under one roof, building a home and our own little family.

Since then, life has been one adventure after another, from camping in the Kruger National Park to holidays in Kenton-on-Sea. Every trip, and every ordinary day in between, has made us fall a little more in love.

She said yes

At Sibuya Game Reserve, Michael asked Kirst to be his forever. She said yes!

10 April 2027

This is only the beginning of our greatest adventure. On 10 April 2027, we’ll say “I do” at the St Andrew’s College Chapel, and we can’t wait to celebrate this special day, and the many happy years to come, with you.
